THEY went to the Arctic lamenting global warming, but ever since they got there they have been wishing for warmer weather. I have been feeling sorry for the three Brits who set off for the North Pole in February. I’m all for adventurers pushing themselves to their absolute limits but after pulling a 1,000 kg sledge all day, image having to crawling into “a frozen sleeping bag” on “a raft of sea ice” knowing there is a polar bear nearby. I guess there is always a percentage of us that feel the need to suffer for the common good. Pen Hadow, Ann Daniels and photographer Martin Hartley were dropped somewhere in Canada at the end of February to pull their fully laden sledges more than 1,000 kilometres to the North Pole. The objective of the adventure is to measure ice thickness and draw attention to the issue of global warming. I suspect that the latter objective, drawing attention to global warming, is why the team includes the photographer. Called the Catlin Expedition, it has run into unusually cold weather with a dip in Arctic temperatures over the last couple of months, but apparently temperatures are now recovering along with the spirits of the adventurers. Given the team set off concerned the planet was overheating, they could perhaps be a little happier about the recent unusually cold weather. Source

Nature Rules the Climate, Not Human Activities
Have you ever noticed that Disciples of Global Warming are so desperate to believe their religion that they will still cling to Al Gore’s mantra of man-made disaster even while staring evidence to the contrary in the face? The Founder, the Heritage Foundation blog, points to a Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel article where two researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Kyle L. Swanson and Anastasios Tsonis, have found
natural forces in the Earth’s climate have conspired to end a recent period of global warming, and they predict that temperatures will change little or drop over the next decade or more.
Wow! Amazing! How fantastic that God might have actually been smart enough to build planet earth so that it can cleanse, regulate and maintain an environment suitable for all that wonderful life He put here–including humans. But wait; don’t assume these guys have put up the jug of Kool-aid yet. Even though they’ve found that natural factors are keeping the planet cool…
Swanson and Tsonis believe that burning fossil fuels will lead to higher global temperatures over the century.
Yes, by golly, somehow mankind is still going to wreck this fragile planet with his evil SUVs and capitalism. The natural factors responsible for cooling now couldn’t possibly stop future global warming. That just wouldn’t fit the fantasy! They even acknowledge what many other scientists have found: that temperature change is cyclic (scientists have found warming and cooling cycles going back thousands of years–long before SUVs and coal power plants).
Tsonis and Swanson used mathematical analysis to look at the role of the Earth’s natural climate cycles and the long-term weather patterns that drive them. The Earth’s global mean temperature swings up and down over time. It fell before World War I, increased during the 1920s and 1930s, fell again during the 1940s until about 1976. Then, global temperatures rose from 1976 to 2001. But the trend in mean temperatures since 2001 has been flat, said Tsonis, and is beginning to fall. Tsonis and Swanson found that the Earth is in the beginning of a long-term climate cycle where temperatures will level off or drop over the next few decades.
But alas, anthropogenic global warming is still going to win in the end, they say. Why? Because it is important to maintain the facade of their weak theory. It would be very hard to convince people to give up their freedom, their affluence, their comforts merely to satisfy some pointy-headed moron’s love for Marxism. But a man-made disaster caused by all that evil freedom, affluence and comfort…well, we’ll just have to give all that up to save the planet! Just a few short years ago, the Apostles of the Religion of Global Warming thought they had this thing locked up. Then, people started to take a closer look at how thin the “science” really was. People started to notice all the evidence contrary to the assertion of a man-made event. Now their followers are falling like flies, with global warming coming in dead-last in a 20-item list of people’s concerns. With climate data going back thousands of years showing cyclic temperature changes, with records showing the Vikings once growing vineyards in Greenland that is now covered in ice, with unreliable temperature data, with natural sources of greenhouse gasses, with global warming happening on other planets such as Mars and Jupiter, with solar activity at record levels, and with a total lack of consensus demonstrated by tens of thousands of scientists who just aren’t buying it…one might be tempted to ask: how can people be this stupid? Well, there certainly are some people who are that willfully dull (I talk to them on a regular basis here at Dakota Voice), and they are aided by their ideological loathing for capitalism and the success of Western civilization. But there are those who know better, who know it is a load of fertilizer. They are the ones pushing this nutty idea on society, and their motivation is the same one that merely blinds some of the sheeple who simply go along: an agenda to advance socialism. Frankly, I’m not willing to sell out my freedom and comfortable way of life for socialism under any circumstances. And I darn sure am not willing to do it for such a transparently inane idea that doesn’t even pass the smell-test of credibility. Are you?

For years (decades?), climate alarmist scientists have been claiming that the oceans were rising with “unprecedented” speed due to human-caused global warming. These scientists claim that because of all the melting of glaciers and ice sheets, due to human-caused warming, the sea levels are rising at an accelerated pace and will continue to so – up to a 2
0 foot rise by the end of the century is predicted. If this accelerated sea level rising is happening as claimed, then it should be evident across the world. Fortunately, the sea rise at the Adak Island, Alaska is not happening at all – seas levels are declining at Adak. This is just but one example of ocean facts countering sea-rise alarmism hype – more to follow. (On average, recent satellite measurements put global ocean level increases at 3mm/year or 1 foot/century.)

Over the last year or so I have been taking an informal survey of a key news metric – Google news searches for the term “global warming.” A year ago, the ratio of alarmist/skeptical articles was close to 100/1. About six months ago, the ratio was 90/10, Two months ago it was 80/20, and today it hit 50/50 for the first time – including the lead skeptical story “A Cooling Trend Toward Global Warming“. One thing that has changed is the rise of blogs written by informed citizens, complemented by the demise of corporate newspapers which make money from keeping people continually alarmed about one thing or another.
Congratulations to Anthony and all the readers for being a big part of this. Democracy in it’s purest form – hope and change we can all believe in.
It's censorship, not consensus
The Environmental Protection Agency has submitted a “finding” to the White House Office of Management and Budget that will force the Obama administration to decide whether to limit greenhouse gas emissions under the Clean Air Act. If adopted, new laws and regulations will likely follow that have the potential to change our lifestyles and limit our freedoms. None of these will be preceded by debate, they will be imposed on us by fundamentalist politicians and scientists who have declared global warming as fact; end of discussion.
On the Discovery Channel last week, Tom Brokaw hosted a special called “Global Warming: The New Challenge.” While promoting the piece, Brokaw declared, “there is a growing consensus that global warming is real and getting worse.” Actually, there is a growing body of opinion that global warming is a fraud perpetrated by liberal politicians and their scientific acolytes who want more control over our lives. Whenever politicians declare a crisis, or an emergency, watch out. Chances are this means they want to impose something before the public discovers the truth. One of the definitions of consensus is “general agreement or concord; harmony.” Any honest assessment of scientific opinion leads to the conclusion that there is signi
ficant disagreement on global warming within the scientific community among those with expertise in climatology and related fields. Yet many politicians want us to believe all of science is on board with manmade global warming and that we must act now to save the planet and ourselves from catastrophe (catastrophe is another word politicians like to use when imposing their agendas). You know something is up when prominent apostles of global warming, especially former vice president Al Gore, refuse to discuss the issue with any scientist who takes a contrary view. Science makes mistakes, as did NASA when it published data on global warming trends in an effort to gauge the warmest years in U.S. history. Their temperature statistics were flawed. The year 1998 was not the hottest year on record, as NASA originally stated, it was 1934 — the year Wiley Post discovered the jet stream. In New York earlier this month, more than 600 scientists, economists, legislators and journalists from many nations met for the second International Conference on Climate Change. Numerous presentations debunked with documentation what they called the pseudoscience and dictatorial intentions promoted by the UN, the European Union and the Obama administration. If there was media coveraget, I missed it. The keynote speaker at the gathering was Vaclav Klaus, president of the Czech Republic and the European Union. Klaus described environmentalism as a new collectivist religion that doesn’t just want to change the climate, but us as well. Klaus rejected the executive summary published by the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change as all politics and environmental activism, “not science.” Truth is sometimes inconvenient, as Al Gore likes to say. But that cuts both ways. Truth can also be inconvenient when it shines light on propaganda. Not to allow for a full-fledged debate on global warming is censorship, a popular practice in totalitarian societies and many fundamentalist religions and cults.

Cap and Tax Collapse
Please pass Al Gore a Valium — and better make it a double — because his cap-and-trade dreams just took a dive in the U.S. Senate. In a vote late Wednesday, no fewer than 26 Democrats joined all 41 Republicans to insist that any new cap and tax on carbon energy would require at least 60 votes.
Tennessee Republican Lamar Alexander called it “the biggest vote of the year” so far, and he’s right. This means Majority Leader Harry Reid can’t jam cap and tax through as part of this year’s budget resolution with a bare majority of 50 Senators. More broadly, it’s a signal that California and East Coast Democrats won’t be able to sock it to coal and manufacturing-heavy Midwestern states without a fight. Senators voting in favor of the 60-vote rule included liberals from Wisconsin, Michigan and West Virginia. Now look for Team Obama to attempt to impose cap and tax the non-democratic way, via regulation that hits business and local governments with such heavy costs that they beg Congress for a less-harmful version. Though the press corps has barely noticed, this means that two of President Obama’s most economically destructive priorities have taken major hits in the last two weeks. The cap-and-tax collapse follows Pennsylvania Republican Arlen Specter’s decision to oppose Big Labor’s attempt to eliminate secret ballots in union organizing elections. If Mr. Specter holds firm, and as swing state Democrats also look for cover, Republicans will be able to prevail on a filibuster. Opponents can’t get complacent because the left will regroup, and the media-liberal activist consortium will start to get nasty with dissenters. But for now these are major victories for the U.S. economy, and we suspect they are also helping the stock market rally. The most important remaining fight this year is over health care. Democrats seem intent on trying to plow that monumental change through with only 50 votes, even as they negotiate to bring along some Republicans. We hope these Republicans understand that a new health-care “public option” — a form of Medicare for all Americans — guarantees that the 17% of GDP represented by the health-care industry will be entirely government-run within a few years. This is precisely Mr. Obama’s long-term goal, though he doesn’t want to say it publicly. If Republicans acquiesce, they will spend the rest of their days in public life raising taxes to pay for liabilities that will grow into the trillions of dollars. GOP leaders need to get out of the backrooms and start the same kind of public-education campaign on state-run health care that has helped to stall cap and tax and coercive unionization.
UN Scientist: 'The whole climate change issue is about to fall apart. Heads will roll'
Professor Dr. William J.R. Alexander, Emeritus of the Department of Civil and Biosystems Engineering at the University of Pretoria in South Africa, is a former member of the United Nations Scientific and Technical Committee on Natural Disasters.
Excerpt: The whole climate change issue is about to fall apart. Heads will roll. […] It is also very important to note that global climate models are unable to produce an output that is verifiable. In other words the output can neither be proved nor disproved. What grounds do those who use these models have to refute observations made by others to the effect that there is no believable evidence of the postulated dramatic adverse changes produced by the models? […] Not only do our studies completely negate the claims made by climate change scientists, but we can demonstrate with a high degree of assurance that all the proposed measures to limit greenhouse gas emissions will be an exercise in futility.
There is no way whatsoever that the costly mitigation measures will have a meaningful effect on the world’s climate. [..] I cannot understand the deliberate attempts by a small, unrepresentative group of climatologists and environmentalists in the National Biodiversity Institute in particular, to vilify me and discredit my studies. What are they attempting to achieve? All that they needed to do was to produce scientifically believable evidence to the contrary. I must stress that the following is not a personal issue. I bear no grudges and have no chip on my shoulders.
The Great Global Warming Con
A lot of people have been hoodwinked into believing that global warming has been caused by people, countries, factories and cars emitting co2, carbon dioxide. THIS IS NOT TRUE. We have been the victims of a hoax that simply engineers more taxes. I went to see Al Gore in Glasgow and it cost me £700 just to sit at a table and watch him speak about climate change, Hilton hotel in Glasgow. I believed it all.
I thought, shit the planet is melting! You see, my planet, yes it’s mine as it’s the only one I live on has to be protected against harm as it’s also my son’s and your planet. But let us look at some facts. Carbon Dioxide is a natural gas that has been in our atmosphere for millions of years, probably before time began as we know it. Carbon Dioxide is vital for our survival, we as human beings emit this with every breath we take and make. It is then absorbed by flora and fauna and transformed into life giving Oxygen. So to all activists out there who believe in save a tree I say, keep breathing as your co2 is needed by our green friends. i love this green place, I love clean water and I love being able to see a clear blue sky, apart from fighetr jets chem trailing everywhere.
It is a fact that has been proven by climatologists that the earth ceased warming in 1997 and that this is not due to reduced emissions from cars, vans nor factories. This is due purely to the effect the sun has on our atmosphere. Whenever the sun spurts it’s sun spots it is showing it’s power and violence. Sun spots are huge explosions in the sun’s gaseous climate. These spots not only affect the earth but they also affect every other planet. When you watch the news and you hear “oh my god the antarctic and artic polar caps are melting”. You are in fear as you think if they melt we will be flooded. This is wrong, they melt every year during the summer months and more so when sun spot activity hits our planet.
The glaciers are actually increasing in size as the earth is cooling, not warming up as Al Gore would have us believe. Sea level change, simple equation here is this. Glaciers melt, sea level rises, we drown. This is what you are told, so where is Noah? Reality, the majority of any glacier is already underwater so the top of it melting will not matter to the volume of water in our oceans. Oh and can polar bears survive? Yes they can, Polar bears have been known to swim distances of over 200 miles, tracked with rc collars. they have two layers of fur, the first one is so insulated that they will not even show on an infra red camera pointed at them as there is no heat loss. The second coat is needled, this means that each hair acts as a wee tube to absorb heat and transfer it to the core organs.
A polar bear in the water is at home as you and me might be lying on a sunny beach. The biggest threat to polar bears is us, man, hunting them and not climate change. Climate change is continual, we have had ice ages before and it has had nothing to do with human input of carbon dioxide. It is the result of the changes in the sun’s atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is not the issue here. Without co2 we die. So why has it become the issue? The answer is simple, cars and companies can be taxed because Governments and the media make it so. There is no legitimate reason to give a car or a van a co2 emission rating other than to allow a tax to be made on it. This would be the same as taxing dairy farmers who have herds that fart, so let’s have a fart tax too. Sounds funny, but it is not as the USA have already tried this.
And to all the climate change/global warming activists I just want to tell you a wee story. I recycled as much as I could. Plastic, tin, steel, paper etc. I had a green bin that it all went into. I was doing my bit for mother earth.
I was then faced with a problem as the local council, who i pay £1200 a year to in council tax, refused to empty the recycle bin. Eight weeks and they would not empty it and I complained to be told, we cannot recycle materials contained withing platic bags. I said so you cannot recycle plastic bottles and containers contained within a platic sack. I was told NO. So if plastic cannot be recycled when it is contained within plastic then what is the point. I then did some research and found out that the same council use 34 vans to collect the recycled waste, they do 1.6 million miles in diesel powered vans, medium size. to collect this waste.
Then they transport this waste to a central collection point. It is then loaded into trucks to take it a further 90 miles. This recycling amounts to 900 tons per week. So how is this friendly to the planet? This kind of recycling is counter productive as it is causing more pollution than it solves. I helped the ozone today, I took my recycling bin into my garden, stroked it fondly and said goodbye and set fire to it. People are not the problem, co2 is not the problem. Politicians are the problem.

Part One: Al Gore and Friends
Global warming prophet profit Al Gore blogged about the ‘Extreme Ice Survey’ this week. I recommend you watch the time-lapse images of a retreating glacier, it is amazing how much ice was lost in 5 short months. But wait, what’s that? The images were taken between May and September? Isn’t that, like, summer? Ice melts in the summer, who knew?
Al Goreacle failed to observe Earth Hour. He denies the accusations. He’s still busted. The best part about this – Al Gore takes a turn as a denier. Heh.
Al Gore. Even he has trouble swallowing his bull.
Al blogs again, and enters a circular argument from hell:Two weeks ago the National Association of Insurance Commissioners ruled insurance companies must now submit annual “climate-risk” reports. “The officials acted after concluding that climate change threatens insurers in two ways. It increases the risk of extreme weather events such as floods and wildfires, which would boost claims. And it is prompting governments to cap industrial carbon emissions that contribute to global warming — a move threatens the profits of companies such as coal-fired utilities in which insurers commonly invest.”
This is just more evidence of the immediate need to solve the climate crisis, not only because of its effect on the planet, but on business as well.
Get that? Because Al Gore’s great global warming hoax has bullied credulous politicians to pursue cap and trade legislation, profits are threatened. Ergo, global warming threatens business and must be ‘solved’. Does Al even read what he’s writing, or did Obama take all the best writers for his teleprompter?Meanwhile, ElGore seems to have lost a few journalists from his Current TV venture. His employees are currently in custody in the prehistoric theme park we know as North Korea. Al seems to have no plans to save them from their Lil’ Kim crisis, preferring to fight a mythical crisis instead. Gore followers, this would be called a teachable moment about the character of your leader.

One of Al’s closest friends, global warming muppet Jim Hanson, wrote an email criticizing Freeman Dyson for being a skeptic. It’s an intellectual David and Goliath cage match, but Hanson forgot to pack his slingshot.David Suzuki, the granola hippy and totalitarian, was called out for his outright lies after an IOC green awards night. The man with the smackdown was none other than Dr. Tim Ball. We know that warmists are all about who is best qualified, so this contest goes to Dr. Ball with the Ph.D. in Climatology, not the do-nothing media whore ex-geneticist. Them’s the breaks, Dave.
Part Two: AGW Scaremongers
California, the model for global economies that embrace climate change as a reality, gets into the tough issues and considers banning black cars from their streets. Black cars are blamed for getting too warm in the Sun, and then radiating that heat, causing global warming. Try not to think about the inconvenient paradox that warmists blame everything under the sun for warming, but not the yellow orb itself. Scaremonger extraordinaire James Hanson admitted that his models make stuff up. No, really, he said that. Sort of.People in Spokane have dirty dishes, and they don’t like it. Washington hippies are fine with it, of course, but the do-gooders forgot the law of unintended consequences:
1) Some folks now drive 100 miles each way to neighboring Idaho to buy proper dishwasher detergent.
2) Others just run their dishwashers on the super heavy-duty cycle to get their dishes clean.

Climate change hoax rightfully ignored at G20

Can you believe it? The greatest challenge to humanity since the dawn of time (© Al Gore, James Hansen, IPCC etc etc) but the G20 choose to sidestep it completely. As the understandably miserable sounding Ohn Sauven, Executive Director of Greenpeace, puts it, sounding for all the world like a kid whose just lost his favourite teddy bear:
“Hundreds of billions were found for the IMF and World Bank, but for making the transition to a green economy there is no money on the table, just vague aspirations, talks about talks and agreements to agree.
“A clear financial commitment to green investment and jobs could have helped kick-start a green economy and tackle climate change.”
No it couldn’t. At least the G20 are right on this issue.
